Prices, not ranges

What does a website cost?

Most answers are "it depends". It does, but that is not something you can plan with. So the numbers come first here, and the caveats after.

Short answer
Studio Start
NOK 1,990 to start + NOK 199 / mo
One finished page, hosting and upkeep included.
Studio Bedrift
NOK 5,990 to start + NOK 499 / mo
A complete business site with several pages, upkeep included.
Studio Pro
from NOK 9,990 to start + NOK 999 / mo
Individual design, CMS and self-editing.

All prices exclude VAT. Setup is paid once. The monthly price covers keeping the site up, updated, monitored and backed up.

Why almost nobody answers

The industry quotes ranges, not prices.

Look up what a website costs and you usually get a wide range, or "contact us for a quote". The reason is real enough: scope varies, and an agency would rather talk to you before naming a number.

But it makes planning impossible. You cannot tell whether you are looking at a couple of thousand or half a year of work, and you have to spend a conversation just to find out whether a conversation is worth it. So my prices are public. If they do not fit, we have both saved the time.

What decides the price

Four things move the number.

How much the site has to do

A site that tells people who you are is one thing. One that receives enquiries is more. One that books appointments, takes payment or has logins is a system, and is priced as one.

Whether you edit the content yourself

If you want to update text, prices and staff without asking anyone, you need an editing system. That is the single factor that most often moves a site from the cheapest tier to the next.

How many pages and how much content

One well-made page costs less than eight. And if your text and images are ready, it moves faster than if they have to be created from scratch.

Whether things have to talk to each other

If the site has to connect to booking, accounting, stock or a till, that is integration work. It is priced separately, and starts higher than a website.

The part nobody likes writing

What is not included.

This is in the price list too, but it is worth repeating here. A price without caveats is not an honest price.

  • No logins
  • No self-editing
  • No CMS
  • No database
  • No bespoke backend
  • No advanced integrations
  • No ongoing content changes included
  • No CMS or self-editing (see Studio Pro)
  • No logins or member portal
  • No online store
  • Included time does not roll over
  • A larger online store is priced separately
  • Member portals and advanced logins are priced separately
  • Heavy data processing and bespoke features are priced separately
The monthly price

Why there is a monthly price at all.

The monthly price is not server rent. Domains expire, certificates need renewing, security holes appear, and forms stop delivering without saying so. It covers someone being responsible for the site still working in November, and for problems being found before you notice them.

That is why the site and its upkeep are sold as one product. You should not have to assemble hosting, certificates, monitoring and backups yourself, and you should not discover that nobody did.

The alternatives

What it costs elsewhere.

Build it yourself in a template tool

A few hundred a month. Entirely possible, and for some people it is the right choice. You pay with your evenings, and you get a site that looks like a thousand others and is harder to rank on Google.

Ask an AI for it

Free, and you get something that looks finished in fifteen minutes. What you do not get is the enquiry arriving, Google finding you, or anyone noticing when it stops working.

An agency

Usually from tens of thousands upwards. You get a team, a project manager and a process. You also get more layers between you and whoever actually builds it.
